Bend the Sun was founded many years ago as my wedding photography business. While it was doing well enough as a fun passion project, my life took a turn when I shifted out of the military and into becoming a teacher.
Now I spend a lot of time in classrooms with students of all ages, and I’ve come to see that their passions are genuine and full of excitement for the tech fields I teach. Unfortunately, when I walk through book stores, and scan the internet, all I see are people who look to make money off of those students by selling them the fundamental lessons and tips that I’d teach in a public school class. It’s sad, and frankly shameful. So I decided to just start putting them up here for free.
Also, many of my colleagues might be able to benefit from the resources I share, and use these as materials for their own classes. That’s a pretty cool concept too. I dig that. Give’r. Sharing is caring, y’know?
Don’t get me wrong, I still will shoot the odd job here and there, but those are no longer tied to this site. Through this site I can teach both my students and others, freely sharing with anyone who wants to learn, and help grow the community I love: technological education - specifically communications technology!
